My Favorite Super Bowl Ad

I missed most of the game, but this little piece of genius really caught my eye:

Amazing.
If I ever get an ad in the Super Bowl, I really just want it to be this exact spot.
It just goes to show that the simplest ideas – in this case, “tasty nuts are a treat” – lend themselves the coolest executions. Not sure about “awesome plus awesome equals awesomer.” I definitely over use the word “awesome,” I think in general it’s just kind of lost its meaning… But, still. It is an awesome …

A Hip Hop Lesson

I’m a big hip hop fan and I came across this rapper about a week ago, Nicki Minaj. She’s got crazy skills and her style is so different from anyone I’ve heard of. She’s been around for a few years but hasn’t gained popularity until recently. I relate it back to what we do as creatives in that she does her thing and it’s not how everyone else does it. Either people will love her or they won’t but I doubt she cares. I don’t want to be for everyone …

Look How Rich I Am

I read this article on my commute today where AC/DC’s Brian Johnson did a little ripping on Bono and his public displays of charity. After seeing U2 for the first time this summer I could not agree more with him. I think I actually blogged about how it felt like I was witnessing a cult meeting. Give it a quick read. What does it have to do with advertising? Maybe not a lot but, I learned a new word that can be thrown around. Mythomaniac; a person who wishes to …

A Writers Lust for Food

Recently my creative partner/hetero-platonic-lifemate Brian Eilbott started a project that has nothing to do with advertising. Which is something I love seeing from all creatives. For the past few weeks he has been writing about food. What’s the twist? He talks dirty to food. Filthy. Something a little twisted and worth sharing with you. Because Brian sits about one foot away from me I was able to pull a few strings and get a top secret interview with him. Let’s hear what he had to say. Shall we?

Super Bowl Commercial Surprise

For the last 2 weeks, I’ve seen blogs, tweets and links to all the Super Bowl spots that will be airing. I don’t know about you, but the Super Bowl is like Christmas morning for me. I can’t wait to be surprised and laugh and enjoy all the commercials. Previewing them all before the game seems like it’s ruining all the magic. Like waking up Christmas morning and finding out that your parents took toys out of your toybox, wrapped them up and put them under the tree. I’m hoping …

What do you mean our product sucks?

If you’re in this business long enough, you will eventually be assigned to work on an account that you just don’t believe in. And even though this is mutually disadvantageous for all parties involved, it happens. But what happens if it’s not just you not believing in the product, but everyone?
50 years ago, a pizza company was started. When it was time to expand their business, the owners created a supply chain and set standards to ensure that every pizza created at every store tasted the same. It seems like …
