The “Double Rainbow” dude got a commercial!

Good for him. He got paid. And isn’t on ecstasy this time. Enjoy.

Boxee Box

Maybe it’s because I recently moved or because I’ve realized how little I actually watch TV, but I’d really love to dump DirecTV. Unfortunately, I’m under contract for 11 more months so I’ll have to wait until then to drop it. While I’ve been daydreaming about being free of the cost, I’ve looked into building/buying a really cheap computer that I dedicate to streaming Hulu and Netflix. Then it dawned on me that someone might have created a device that already did that. Ta-Duh: The Boxee Box.

What did I learn? Reality TV has the power to make me physically ill

I don’t watch a lot of TV, but this weekend I stumbled upon a show so horrific, so depressing, so disgusting that what little faith in humanity I have left was pressed to it’s breaking point. The show: Toddlers & Tiaras on TLC (the ‘learning’ channel)
Normally I don’t use the words ‘right’ & ‘wrong’ very often. I subscribe to the existentialist notion that we all create our own persona & that life & all of its’ meaning is therefore whatever we make of it- ‘Do what thou wilt shall be …

Budweiser World Cup Reality Show

During the World Cup, Budweiser wants to take one person from each of the participating countries to go live in the same house. It’ll be called The Bud House, the brands reality show that is supposed to show 32 people cheering for their countries inside a high-tech house in South Africa…
A few weeks ago, AdAge said that this would be like a Big Brother but the producers came back and said that it’s not supposed to be a elimination game. They want to show how would it be to put …

It started as a rant – then I got distrcted

I was going to talk about how much I dislike the fact that now you need to have a Creativity online subscription in order to see the content. (It used to be that you could see the content for free for 7 days, before you needed to be a subscriber.) But then I bumped into The Ricky Gervais Show. I love Ricky Gervais. Free to watch the full episode brought to you by HBO. Viva free content.

What I remember about the Super Bowl

I promised myself I wouldn’t do this, talk about The Bowl, but damn it I gotta.
Of course everyone is going to talk about the Super Bowl and the ads they saw. “Dude what did you think?” “What was your favorite?” Then most people look at lists of ratings, most viewed and then watch them all over again blah blah blah. Well guess what. I haven’t re-watched them. I haven’t read or really said a damn thing about the Super Bowl ads. Nope zilch. Maybe a random headline but nothing has …

Don’t be a Dick!

Being a former cynic turned optimist Conan’s goodbye last week was definitely a breath of fresh air. I tuned in to see what he would say good or bad and was almost teared up to see such a talented and kind man give such nobel words. Words that will resonate with me to the end of my life.
Moral of the story DON’T BE A DICK! Nobody wants to work with one.

Curbed Enthusiasm

I was so excited when HBO decided to bring back Curb Your Enthusiasm, but am a little disappointed so far. Is it just me or is it just okay?
Granted HBO has been a powerhouse as far as it shows lately. True Blood was a smash hit this season even with it’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer sub plots. Why can’t a vampire show just be about Vampires?  Regardless it was cool with the exception of the whole Maynard thing.
Hung was brilliantly written and an awesome concept. What I would like to …

My screen is bigger than your screen

Inevitably, when someone gets a brand new HD television for the first time, you’ll hear them talking months later about how they never watch standard definition programming anymore. There’s probably several reasons for this, but chief among them is that SD programming just looks like shit on most HD sets.
The other thing it fundamentally changes is watching sports. “Have you seen golf in HD? It’s amazing – you can make out Phil Mickelson’s man boobs so clearly.” “Dude, you should check out curling in HD. You can see the individual …

Blog, Sponsored by Top Chef, sponsored by Sears

I’m not a big fan of reality TV. But, somehow, as I sat mindlessly staring at the television last week, I found myself watching Top Chef on Bravo. If you’re not familiar with the show, they take 20 or so chefs and give them all sorts of different challenges that allow Bravo to pin down and rape the very concept of product placement.
Curious as to what kind of car shuttles the chefs to Whole Foods? Just wait for the camera to zoom in on the Toyota Venza logo and hold …
