I started a new blog yesterday. Unlike this one, mine has very few words on it. The purpose of this new blog is to post photos I’ve taken in the past, and ideally to post a new photo every day of my life, taken that same day. I’ve started to wonder how much our selective memories shape the way we relate to things that we believe have happened, what meaning we attach to those events, and how true that meaning is. Unlike people, the camera doesn’t lie.
Here’s the blog. It …

My friend Michael just started this blog: http://additionaldrawings.wordpress.com/
He’s a writer here, but also a crazy person who makes these awesome illustrations. The picture is one of me. (Nice.)
I would describe him as a little scary, a little nasty, a little funny and a little disoriented. All together – He’s a lotta brilliant! So check out a few of his sketches. He’s been adding new ones every other day or so, so if you like them, check back and see what’s new.
I’ve learned two things maybe more, I’m not sure) from …

It’s that dreaded brain freeze, or what you writers call hitting “writers’ block” and us art directors call looking at the “blank page.” We all can get stuck from time to time. Here are some tips I thought were pretty useful. They are from a bunch of famous creatives all over the world. You can read all of them here at http://blog.iso50.com/2010/02/10/overcoming-creative-block/

The most interesting conversation I was involved in this week was about a writer known as Yoani Sanchez. Recently I learned about Yoani Sanchez and the blog Generation Y from listening in on a lecture given by Jauretsi Saizarbitoria, a Cuban American Filmmaker / DJ who had completed a documentary about Cuba called East of Havana. For those of you who were not aware of Yoani Sanchez I highly recommend hearing her story. It is quite fascinating the extent she had to go through to get her blog posts out …

A friend of mine just sent me this link the in the beginning of this week and I thought everybody should take a look at it. It’s a blog for ALL KINDS of creative people – freelancers or not – and it gives tips on how to promote yourself in such a competitive market, how to stay on top of your things. It talks about the best networking websites and everything else you should know…
Anyways, check it out for yourself: http://www.redlemonclub.com/

It’s always inspiring to see misspelled, funny or just plain bizarre signs.
It’s solid proof that human imagination has truly no limits. Unless, apparently, if you’re a creative team working on an ad for the Super Bowl.
In which case wire fences aplenty. This collection is pretty funny. Enjoy:

Recently my creative partner/hetero-platonic-lifemate Brian Eilbott started a project that has nothing to do with advertising. Which is something I love seeing from all creatives. For the past few weeks he has been writing about food. What’s the twist? He talks dirty to food. Filthy. Something a little twisted and worth sharing with you. Because Brian sits about one foot away from me I was able to pull a few strings and get a top secret interview with him. Let’s hear what he had to say. Shall we?

I will state upfront that I have never contributed any amount of money or a donation of any kind to NPRS I am not proud of this. I definitely use NPR.
It is my news source, my weekend background noise and one of the few things that can relax me under almost any circumstances. If you’re not already a listener I highly recommend it for any and all things.
It’s also an awesome source of music. I think picking music is a terrifying endeavor, but it helps when you have a seemingly …

Dear You,
You’re an asshole.
Sincerely,
Anonymous
Anyone has experienced a little passive aggressive attitude from time to time. Nothing can get you more fired up than having an asshole write you a note stating something that they were too afraid to say to your face. I was reminded of this by a guy out in Colorado by the name of Alex Bogusky. He posted this on his blog. http://alexbogusky.posterous.com/blogging-on-telephone-poles
One of his neighbors was pissed that he left his trash outside and wrote him a hateful note and left it on his door. Bogusky’s …
