Social Media Works!

What is social media good for but those narcissists that insist on letting everyone know how cool they are by checking in to absolutely everywhere on foursquare and letting everyone on FB know what they are doing? Marketing of course, and I don’t mean those stupid get skinny quick ads on facebook.
Two weeks ago some friends and I met up for dinner and to see Lydia, the band.
We arrived at Lincoln Hall (One of Chicago’s finest venues) and all of us check into four square. I got some adverture badge, …

Naked guy, freaky girl

After the “Chatroulette Killer” video made for Cannal Buzz Spain, its time for Lionsgate to use the naked.man.website to scare people and promote their new movie.
“The Last Exorcism” comes out only on August 27th but it’s already taking some good reactions out of the people around the world.

Recommend books to your your stalkers

Amazon just had an incredible idea and now works integrated with Facebook, allowing you to recommend the products you like to your Facebook not-so-close-friends. It also gives you the list of who has a birthday coming up and it recommends gifts based on their profiles.
This is a really good execution of a fairly simple idea…Facebook and other social networks already had on the “interests” part of the profile your favorite books, music, movies etc. Amazon now takes it to the next level bringing it to life.

Perrier Mansion

Perrier came out with this really-hot interactive game-like site and I thought it was really cool and worth sharing.
The website has Dita Von Teese as the main character and its impeccable! It’s really well produced as you can see while following Dita around the house sippin’ on bubble water…
Website is not recommended for youngsters, so that means its fun.
So check it out: http://www.perrierbydita.com/

F**K You BP!

It’s been a month since the oil leak started on the Gulf and they didn’t figure out a way to stop that thing yet. Even seeing all the disaster online and on TV, it might not give you the exact idea of how bad that shit is.
Thinking about that this programmer created the www.ifitwasmyhome.com that (using Google Maps)
allows you to project the disaster on whatever part of the planet you are.
You can see in the picture how would it be if it was in Chicago…Shit is crazy…As Aziz Amsari said …

There are 638,472 metric tons of Vitamin C in a cubic mile of Ketchup.

Go to WolframAlpha and ask it something. Anything.
It works like a search engine, but instead of giving you links to a number of sites, it gives you answers. For example, I asked “Are there more boys named Kendall than girls named Kendal?” and it told me that in the US there are 29,224 boys named Kendall and only 4,542 girls named Kendal.
Make sure to search “meme” on the website.
I imagine Google or Bing will offer to buy this website by year’s end.

How did Android kicked iPhone’s ass

I’m not sure if I find this article interesting because I’m now working on 2 phone accounts, but somehow I found it a good read about the reasons why the Android just surpassed the iPhone.   I also had no idea about this, so if you are also out of it you should go ahead and click on the link.  (Click on the pick to go to the site)

TECHNOLOGY, THE GREAT EQUALIZER

If our country were a print ad, it would have a lengthy disclaimer. Something like this, perhaps:
America, land of opportunity!*
*Opportunities may vary. Check your race, sex, class, and social status for specific opportunities. Not all opportunities available to all citizens. America will not be held responsible for lack of opportunity due to insufficient funds needed to participate in all social strata. Check your mirror and bank account for details.
Proponents of technology usually trumpet the ‘equalizing’ power of modern technology, and rightfully so- the way that anyone can use the web, …

Who do you stalk?

I find some of my best sound-bytes and links that lead to better stuff on Twitter. Here are my Top Ten people to follow on Twitter (in no particular order). Some are industry related, some are just cool and some are just funny commentary.
@anamariecox – political writer with very funny tweets and pics.
@denveregotist – if you don’t know about their site you should go…good stuff.
@designdotorg – cool looking links
@agencyspy – well obviously who doesn’t like the gossip
@Steffan1 – Steffan Postaer (ECD tweets can be really boring, Steffan is smart.)
@adamwohl – …

There should be an app to make an app.

I recently went to a little lecture about iphone apps. While I’m still on the fence about the profitability of apps (me personally making a profit) I definitely am a firm believer that they are becoming part of the marketing mix. Our clients should have apps. They don’t have to make money from them but they will create happier customers because of them. (Client depending of course)  The guy who made the Hipstamatic app was there and spoke. Pretty cool stuff. But man how do you find someone to do …
