I wrote a limerick to start this post. It’s kinda amazing. Check it out:
There once was a writer from the city,
who was talented but acted quite shitty
he was so very cocky, no one wanted his copy.
What an ass. What a waste. What a pity.
Lesson: Don’t be a jerk to people unless you’re sure you’ll never need those bridges you’re burning. And even if you are sure, you never know what the future holds… some lowly hack right now may end up being an ECD at your dream agency and they …

Being in a high-stress job like advertising can be draining. Not because you have no creative outlet, but for the opposite reason. Your creative output expectations are colossal. Because of that, it’s helpful to look for other ways to express your creativity so you don’t get burned out. It’s not a good sign when you begin to loathe the very reason you got into advertising in the first place.
So I try to spice up my day or week, even if it’s just once a month, with a number of things …

Visual Communications is a battle for the eye that sees countless messages a minute.
Over the last few years we’ve seen the slick, polished look. For example, Apple utilized the image reflection several years back that made it feel futuristic and modern. But it’s an aesthetic that been copied and used so much now that’s part of the noise. It doesn’t stand out.

I was talking to my buddy last week that just got a new job and how busy he was filling out all the HR paperwork. Instead of being able to fully concentrate on his new job he has to spend countless hours trying to figure out his benefits and all the other forms you get when you get hired. There has to be an easier way right?
Why don’t we all get QR codes tattoos with all our information on it? When we first get a job all of our stuff …

Agency Rec Sports:
If your idea of competitive sports means chugging multiple beers out of enormous novelty mugs and stumbling all over a crack-pipe littered beach volleyball court behind some random ass shady biker bar, then you’re a team player in my book. If you’re a real go getting, eye of the tiger, overly competitive, has-been high school varsity star sports freak, well, have fun ruining it for everyone else champ.
Creative Interview Attire:
Show up to a creative interview sporting a business suit and, mark my words, you will be made fun …

Idea Theft: If your primary career objective is be a universally despised dick wad, then by all means help yourself.
General Complaining: We all tend to bitch and moan when things aren’t going our way. Just try not to overdo it. That’ll only annoy your co-workers. And when that next round of layoffs comes along, guess who’s going to be on the top of the layoff list?
Crying: Remember the episode of Mad Men where Don Draper sits at his desk crying like a little bitch? Yeah, don’t do that.
