Is this the coolest website ever? I won’t reveal the spoiler, but they DID get it right- in reference to the addicting quality of “the product”. I wish more sites did cool shit like this rather than placing oversized, ugly buttons like “place order” on the page.

My last post was about the new Charger spots specifically, but in more general terms it was about frustration I feel sometimes when watching TV spots… especially ones that set up conditional situations “You did this, now you can have that.” I’ve seen another annoying spot polluting the flat screen lately (much worse, in my opinion, than the Charger spots)… It’s the new Dove bodywash ad. For starters, they’re taking the beautiful ‘William Tell Overture’ and adding this loopy sounding dude’s V/O with a not-quite-singing delivery, describing all the things …

If you’re in this business long enough, you will eventually be assigned to work on an account that you just don’t believe in. And even though this is mutually disadvantageous for all parties involved, it happens. But what happens if it’s not just you not believing in the product, but everyone?
50 years ago, a pizza company was started. When it was time to expand their business, the owners created a supply chain and set standards to ensure that every pizza created at every store tasted the same. It seems like …

Talk about effective, truthful, and to the point advertising. I guess, it all depends on your product. Yesterday, I bumped into this. It’s a male sex toy that comes in an egg. Yes, like those you used to get for 25 cents from the vending machines. It’s probably the strangest thing I’ve ever seen, since the Happy Tree Friends. But please take a moment to digest the commercial. It’s clear that sometimes the product is all the shock value you need.

So I just happened across the new American Apparel campaign, the Best Bottom Contest.
http://www.americanapparel.net/storefront/UGCStyle/BestBottom2010/
As a guy, I can appreciate this and have passed it around to some of my buddies and may have even voted on a few. But in general, I’m wondering how far American Apparel is going to go. I mean, aren’t they basically just a t-shirt company? Selling clothes that you wear by showing people not wearing clothes? I’m confused.
They seem to be pushing the envelope more and more with all of their ads. Then I stumbled across this video that explains exactly how and why American Apparel …

Fujfilm just confirmed they intend to put on the market the first 3D digital camera in the world this august.
The new camera, that has 2 lens and 2 image sensor chips so it allows it to take 3D pics, is probably going to coast around $641, (In Japan)…
I wonder if this is going to be cool or suck really bad.

I was barely watching something boring on TV the other day when a commercial instantly grabbed my attention. The product was called Aciphex. In case you lack proper phonetic skills, that’s pronounced “Ass Effects.” Learning that it was an acid reflux medication was pretty much the same let down experience I had when I overheard my parents tell our neighbor about the good deal they got on the Christmas gift I’d gotten from Santa.
Somewhere there is either a team of creatives laughing their pants off because they got away with …

While I was eating breakfast this morning, this box of Wheaties made me ask: 1) How old is the cereal I’m eating, and 2) did I miss something? According to the box, I was supposed to see some new big thing come from Wheaties almost 4 months ago. Even while I sit at a computer typing this, I’m not really even curious enough to go over to the Wheaties website to find out what it was all about. Is it possible that William Miller has been reincarnated as the creative …

This past year I’ve worked on campaigns for Earth’s most fattening and addictive treats: Ben & Jerry’s, Snickers, Klondike, and now Chex Mix. Today I justified eating it for product research. I know there are no idea nuggets in this junk, but I cling to the notion that mad genius will gush like a geyser with every artificially flavored crunch.. So today I nearly blacked out from a Chex Mix buffet during a concept session. My partner and I decided we needed to see what the other flavors of Chex …

I’m in love with Polaroids, not in a hipster kinda way. But I’m pretty fascinated by those smelly chemicals that reveal what’s usually a terrible picture in under 2 minutes. So, I was very disappointed when I heard that they were discontinued. And then I heard this. And it’s probably already old news, but Lady Gaga was named “Creative Director” at Polaroid. I think they made the perfect choice. She’ll definitely bring attention to the brand. I mean what could possibly make Lady Gaga sound boring, well the suits at …
