Burger King is splitting from CP&B after a seven-year partnership. A partnership that I thought was going to last forever due to the great work they’ve created for the brand. However new ownerships always come with changes, and this one is not an exception.
Here’s a look back at the seven-year creative relationship including the famous Subservient Chicken, the Whopper Sacrifice and the Whopper Freakout. Enjoy!

I was getting haircut a couple of days ago and I was pleasantly surprised by the hair stylist calling me Hon and Sweetie. And It wasn’t in that fake, Hooter’s waitress looking for a tip way. Or that condescending small diner waitress way either.
It was in that genuinely concerned way. In the context of the final touches of a good haircut. I walked out of the trendy Floyd’s 99 happy and comfortable that I paid 150% more than I had at the last place I used to get my haircut. …

When the people at Fallon came out with the idea of having a series of short films directed by and staring A-list Hollywood talent for BMW, nobody imagined how successful this idea would be by posting them on the Internet instead of just having them as TV spots.
The Hire , a BMW Films production was conceived back in 2002 when there was no Youtube, or any streaming site around. This campaign was recently awarded second place on the One Show Best of the Digital Decade …

The other day here at the agency some people were talking about how not excited they were to go to a food shoot for one of our clients. I said it should be cool to see all kinds of crazy stuff they do and use on the food to make it look awesome. Well, I guess Domino’s heard me saying that and decided to share a video of the making off of a pizza commercial.
They came out with this video to show that “real pizzas” are just as good looking …

If you’re in this business long enough, you will eventually be assigned to work on an account that you just don’t believe in. And even though this is mutually disadvantageous for all parties involved, it happens. But what happens if it’s not just you not believing in the product, but everyone?
50 years ago, a pizza company was started. When it was time to expand their business, the owners created a supply chain and set standards to ensure that every pizza created at every store tasted the same. It seems like …

During my first week at the VCU Brandcenter, one of the professors asked what we thought about the application we submitted to get in. In response to many people saying that the application had a lot of stupid questions, the professor responded, “Then why did you answer them? Instead, say that it’s a stupid question and write something else.” I asked a couple of other professors if they would have been cool with that and they all agreed that it’s refreshing when someone breaks out of the expected behavior. I …

So I know Crowd Sourcing is kinda the big thing right now. Especially with the economy being so shitty. Industry titan CP+B just farmed out a project that caused a little uproar. But, when do they not.
I’m still on the fence about it, but I do think as Jr’s work is work. Whether it be practice, you get paid or if it is pro-bono ….work is work. What is the worst that can happen a book piece, experience or getting published work out there?
Anyways speaking of work I must …

A friend at work recently passed this on to me he’s kind of my self-proclaimed mentor, which means he offers up advice and knowledge without me asking any questions or prompting him in anyway. It’s a regular reminder of my ‘junior’ status, but I don’t mind because he passes on good stuff and has given me some super helpful tips that I will probably use for the rest of my life. (Like: “If you don’t know what to say, just ask them to replay it.”) Anyways, he’s most recent …

This idea that came out of CP+B branded for Coke Zero as a social networking experiment. It connects to facebook to find your long lost twin. How rad is this technology? Too bad it’s for the Coca-Cola Corporation.

This is my worst nightmare come true. When homeless people start writing. And writing well. It’s actually pretty genius and it just goes to show that advertising and marketing really do work. I bet this guy isn’t homeless anymore. I’m sure he’s working at Crispin as we speak.
Here’s a link to more awesome copywriters.
