As I was waiting for the bus and checking updates on Twitter and Facebook, I noticed almost everyone else at the bus were on some sort of smart phone, I’m guessing doing the same. I started to think, what the hell did we do before all of this?
Did people actually talk to people at the bus stop? How did they pass the time when they missed a bus? They didn’t have Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and Instagram, email access or even multiple new sources to check. Did they strike up conversation? …

Remember back when the only way to talk with your friends when you weren’t with them was to call them on a landline phone? (I still find it weird that less than ten years ago, we still talked on phones with cords attached to the wall.) Granted, when I was a kid, most of my friends lived within walking/biking distance from my house, but it’s still amazing to think about how few communication options there were. On one hand, it’s nice that now I can easily keep up with …

A brand new advertising-related twitter just started. And it’s hilarious. We’ve all experienced some ridiculous clients and feedback. Here’s a place to showcase just how smart our clients can be.

What is social media good for but those narcissists that insist on letting everyone know how cool they are by checking in to absolutely everywhere on foursquare and letting everyone on FB know what they are doing? Marketing of course, and I don’t mean those stupid get skinny quick ads on facebook.

It seems like I have been bombarded with an extraordinary number of really great videos in the past month or so. Each of these movies exhibits a staggering amount of dedication, technical craft, and unbridled creative inspiration from driven individuals more than capable of online self-promotion. Each one leaves me with a dazed but gentle expression of wonderment. I sit in the glow of my laptop, clutching a neglected beer, pupils dilated, mouthing inaudible praises to anyone involved in the creation and/or delivery of these amazing things into my life.

A non-advertising friend of mine (I still have a few of those) tweeted this great link to print ads of the past. Real ones! Not just award-winning-awesome-Lemon-VW ads. It’s broken down by years and product categories. I found it interesting to see the evolution of advertising. Like in the 30′s they wrote a TON of copy. In the 80′s it was a glossy photo with a headline that didn’t really say anything. Mostly I laughed at the horribleness and gasped at what they got away with. But,there were a few …

For those who don’t know Jack Dorsey is the creator of Twitter and now he comes with a new gadget.
Square is a mobile payment system that just had it’s first images reveled this week. It’s supposed to be like PayPal, but with the possibility of accepting “real life” credit cards. Using the little adapter, iPhone and Android are transformed into payment machines.
Receipts are automatically generated. The digital signature and tip option are also featured on the thingy. Seems like it can also identify the buyer by the picture as a …
